1. you're right about Dick Jauron not being in Jonesboro to scout Alex Carrington for the Bills because he is the DB coach at the Eagles
2. Agree with the CJ Spiller analysis..great pick for any team but the Bills just don't need him with Lynch and Fred there...I think lynch will be gone come season though
3. Youre way too bias and optimistic on Crompton..its one thing to say hes got the potential to start but its a completely different situation to say that he will boot philip rivers out of san diego...you can't even compare the brees/rivers situation to rivers/crompton
Rivers was a #4 overall pick in the draft compared to Crompton being #168...Brees in 5 seasons had one ok year (2005) and one great year (2004)
Rivers on the other hand has put monster numbers up since 2006 with only sub-par season (2007)..
in my opinion crompton is just the next charlie whitehurst that may get an opportunity elsewhere once his contract runs up or the chargers decide to trade him
4. great analysis and overall i pretty much agreed with the grades...def didn't understand the chiefs draft..after eric berry i don't know what they were thinking
I'm lookin' for Coach Wunderkind to work his "Cassell Magic" on Timmy T, but there is NO doubt that was a reach at 25, but if he was the guy they wanted they had to do it. The Bills and one other team were trying to get in at the bottom of the first/top of the second to get him.
I thought the Pats killed it. Jerod Mayo and Brandon Spikes on the inside is freakin scary.
I like the Bengals draft, but they didn't do anything to help their defense. Also that CAN'T be the best place for Carlos Dunlap and Dez Briscoe. For those kids I wish they had gone somewhere else. The Bengals have already proven they aren't equipped to help troubled guys with their problems.
My only other comment (for now) would be I'm not sold on Derrick Morgan...I'll admit I didn't see him a ton, but he and Demaryius both really feel like a bust to me.

1. I knew Chan Gailey was their coach. I just got in the typing zone and mis-spoke. (We should proof-read these things).
2. The Crompton stuff is a semi-joke, but I think he has the tools and ability to become a starter in the league somewhere. He is not as touted as Rivers was coming out, but I think he is just as talented.
3. I think the Bengals get a bad rap for not helping their players. They have a very good team/family environment (Hard Knocks showed that). I think Dunlap is destined to be great, and I think Briscoe has the talent to be an NFL number 2. Marvin Lewis is a good coach and there are some good leaders in that locker room.
4. I think this draft, unlike many years, was very deep and most teams helped themselves. Guys who I think have a lot of potential were going in the 5th, 6th, and 7th rounds. There are also guys who will stick that were picked up as free agents. A lot of teams got better in this draft in my opinion.
5. Does anybody know what the Jags are doing yet?
6. It is weird that Georgia Tech players are viewed as bust material. I think because of what they do on offense, being so unorthodox, it causes this doubt around the whole program and players for the next level. I think Morgan is about topped out, but he is very good right now. He will be a very solid player for the Titans, and if he has some room left that people don't see, he could be a manimal. I have my doubts about Thomas like I said in the blog. Dwyer is another guy with doubt, but he has a chance where he landed to be successful if given the opportunity. Another Tech guy I like is Morgan Burnett, but I think it is because I played with him on NCAA 10 so much.
I was following your Crompton clarification until you hit me with the he is as talented as Phillip Rivers. I can't swallow that pill. Here's some quick headlines for the Bengals in the Marvin Lewis era... 6/14/06 Chris Henry – providing alcohol to three underaged females- i can't really fault him for this one... 1/28/06 Chris Henry – possession of a concealed firearm, improper exhibition of firearm, aggravated assault with firearm 6/3/06 A.J. Nicholson – burglary, vandalism, grant theft, *bonus points for stealing electronics from a teammate, that’s not easy 6/21/06 Frostee Rucker – vandalism, spousal battery 12/3/06 Reggie McNeal – resisting arrest and drug possession, always fun to catch the cops with an elbow to the chest 8/5/06 Eric Steinbach – boating under the influence 5/18/06 A.J. Nicholson– domestic violence 6/3/06Chris Henry (June 3rd, ‘06) – DUI, 0.092 9/25/06 9. Odell Thurman (Sept. 25th, ‘06) – drunken driving, a 0.18 12/9/06 10. Deltha O’Neal (Dec. 9th, ‘06) – DWI, come on a 0.10 shouldn’t even count 7/22/06 11. Matthias Askew (July 22nd, ‘06) – disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, failure to comply with police officer’s order, obstructing justice 12/15/05 Chris Henry– weed possession, just kids being kids 6/17/07 Quincy Wilson– disorderly conduct 1/24/07 Johnathan Joseph -possession of marijuana 3/31/08 Henry punched a man named Gregory Meyer, 18, and threw a beer bottle through the window of his car. Henry claimed it was a case of mistaken identity and also that he thought it was somebody else that owed him money. 12/16/09-Not an arrest, but Dec 16, 2009 he fell out of the back of the truck during a drunken domestic dispute between him and his fiance. 2/2/10- Rey Maualuga- DUI
I post all this to pose this question...Does this seem like a good place for a kid with a possible drinking problem?
I've been telling whoever would listen this draft was going to be stellar. I completely agree with you. It's not as star heavy as some drafts, but I don't ever remember a draft this deep.
The Jags don't know what they just did.
I don't know what it is about GA Tech, but I felt that way about them in the pre-PJ days too. I even questioned Calvin Johnson, but he had the double hex on him. He went to GA Tech and was drafted by the Lions.
